Cmatic's stainless steel coupling solutions

Our stainless steel 316L safety couplings are suitable for all European male couplings. Their stainless steel body offers maximum durability in touch environmental conditions. The push button allows the pressurized air to be exhausted before disconnection of the male and female couplings, removing risk of the male coupling escaping uncontrollably and injuring the user.

Alternatively we also offer standard stainless steel 316L couplings which are also suitable for all European profiles and are interchangeable with other makes of couplings.

Record Data, Analyse & Improve the Efficiency with FIN Data Logging!

What is Data Logging?
Data Logging is increasingly being sought as a tool for monitoring and recording data linked to machinery operations and processes due to the rapid increase in competitiveness and lean methodology.

Software
The software integrates various aspects and devices in order to provide the user defined data logging. It reads data in real time from the electronic device of which the hardware is connected. This is done either directly or via alternate connectivity such as Ethernet/IP. Collected data can be saved in user-defined Excel files in various ways for the user to easily create production reports.

Reporting
Reporting is done in real time directly in an Excel file that has been customised according to the user and setup with date and time in a time stamp to ensure that each recorded data value is associated with date and time of acquisition.
If the formulas in the Excel file are set in advance, the production data such as defective rate, average working hours and capacity utilization rate can be calculated in real time while production data is recorded.

Production Data can be saved in daily, weekly and monthly reports and even automatically under different settings.

Applications

The applications are indeed endless, they include:

  • ·        Gas pressure, humidity & temperature recording
  • ·        Process monitoring for maintenance and troubleshooting
  • ·        Water flow and tank level monitoring
  • ·        Measure variation in light intensity
  • ·        Testing of new processes and products

Hardware
The hardware components integrate the physical machinery with the data logging electronic device for the sensory components to convey the precise information for the software to acquire the data.

Pizzato have launched their quadruple push button

Pizzato Elettrica is among the first manufacturers to propose a quadruple push-button, which is the most compact solution for piloting four independent contact blocks by means of one single device; unlike lever manipulators, the profile of the quadruple push-button does not protrude from the mounting panel, thus avoiding embossed shapes and unintentional activations, as well as obtaining an aesthetic result integrated with the EROUND line.

In order to suit the various types of application, the EROUND line quadruple push-buttons are available in two different versions: protruding or flush. It is possible to choose from among shapes, colours and symbols, so as to create a variety of combinations of push-button codes.

All push-buttons in this series have an IP67 protection degree, thus guaranteeing maximum protection even in particularly heavy-duty environmental conditions.

FIN is the official representative of Pizzato in Malta. Further details on its wide range of products and possible applications can be obtained from FIN on 27654098 or sales@finmalta.eu.

The Institute of Electrical Engineering's day out

Over the past couple of days FIN hosted a number of students from MCAST's Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The aim of these seminars is to give the future engineers and technicians a key insight into the technologies and products which they will be using in their careers.

A number of different topics were discussed including basic pneumatics, basic hydraulics and, of course, electrical engineering. Mr. Kevin Bonanno led the seminars and included numerous functioning demonstration components for the students to witness first hand the flexibility and functionality of Delta and Pizzato technological products, amongst others.

Students saw how an HMI can be interfaced to a temperature controller to control the heating and cooling of substances, such as water, without the need of a PLC or other ancilliary devices. They also saw servo drives in operation in an automated machine FIN is currently building. There was special interest in FIN's own icontrol and icontrol-a which were recently launched as kits for professionals and students who wish to improve their programming skills in both PLCs and HMIs. More information on the icontrol can be found on http://goo.gl/IS7nB8.

FIN company director Mr. Sergio Zammit thanked the students for attending and their interest in these seminars. Almost all of FIN's team are qualified from MCAST or other institutions and therefore we understand the needs, trouble and opportunities which students face and we are proud to have the capacity to be able to be their partners of choice. FIN also offers exclusive discounts to students, particularly does doing course projects. For more information you can contact us on education@finmalta.eu or through facebook

Retro-reflective sensors

Retro-reflective sensors

A sensor is a converter that measures a physical quantity and converts it into a signal which can be read by an electronic instrument.  Various types exist and these range from photo-electric, inductive and capacitance to ultrasonic, laser and even vision!

A retro-reflective photoelectric sensor is a device used to detect the distance, absence, or presence of an object by using a light transmitter, commonly infrared, and a photoelectric receiver. They are used extensively in industrial manufacturing. There are three different functional types:

opposed (through beam),
retro-reflective and
proximity-sensing (diffused)

A typical solution of a retro-reflective type is detecting the roll end in the packaging industry. When the roll is not present in front of the sensor, the sensor notices the absence and will alternate the output signal accordingly. This will ensure that sufficient plastic is available to continue the process, ensuring a good quality product and no scrap or damages.

FIN represents Leuze, a leading sensor manufacture in Europe, further details on sensors and possible applications can be obtained from FIN Solutions on 27654097 or projects@finmalta.eu

The wonder of PTFE tubing

Versatility, durability and many other ...ility adjectives can be used to describe PTFE tubing.

Put simply, these are the strengths of PTFE tubing:

The tube between the pressure switch
and the compressor needs to withstand
a very high temperature
  1. Has a working temperature of between -60°C to 260°C, meaning it can be used in ovens, freezers and anything in between.
  2. It is of a food grade standard, which means it can be used in food and beverage production safely. It also means that you could ingest a piece without worrying about poisoning, although we strongly recommend you stick to a Mediterranean diet.
  3. It can be connected using standard push fit fittings, which means you can connect it to many modern automation processes.
  4. Allows almost all kinds of mediums to flow through it. Whether it is air, water, steam, oil, paint and the list goes on.
  5. It does not dissipate electrostatic charges when conveying non conducting fluids, meaning no risk of sparks in highly flammable areas.
  6. Working pressures vary according to the temperature and size, but sizes up to 12mm outside diamater have a working pressure of 13BAR (and, worth mentioning, a minimum burst pressure of 39BAR).
PTFE tubing is our solution to challenging environments in automation. You can find it in stock today at our solution point in Paola. For more information contact us on 27654098 or message us on facebook.

Finally, a purpose built distribution system

Would you use a Fiat Uno to go off-roading? Or perhaps dry your hair with an iron? Hopefully not, and you are right to say so.

Moving to air distribution systems, the story changes a little. A number of businesses choose to install water distribution systems and use them for compressed air instead. Those who do this do not realise the danger they are putting themselves, their team and their premises into. These water systems are only designed to handle up to 3 BAR, and they do this perfectly.
However, a normal compressor gives out around 10 BAR and this added pressure causes leaks and deformation of the water system tubing. There have also been incidents where a fitting burst out of place, causing severe pain to an employee and damaging an expensive car (the system was installed in a spray booth). I should add that such systems are illegal.

Don't worry, we've got the solution!

Our air distribution system is different as it has been designed to handle AIR. Rather than boring you with the technical information (which we would be more than glad to explain in person), I will focus on the main two benefits; a 10 year guarantee & insurance cover in case of any faults or damages.

The distribution system uses a simple push-fit system followed by a simple spanner tightening. All the fittings and tubing are made of maintenance free anodized aluminium and the tube can be easily cut to size using a pipe cutter. The system includes all the necessary accessories, including distribution manifolds, elbows, tees and drain valves. We've thought of everything you might need.

FIN offers the system in two packages. One option is to have the parts delivered and then handle the easy installation yourself. The other is to have us carry out the installation, testing and commissioning ourselves. In each case we can come on-site and take all the necessary measurements for you.

Our line of distribution systems expand to other mediums, which have specifically built fittings and tubing for the particular medium. The other mediums are water, nitrogen, vacuum and oil.

See what others barely see

When it comes to the reliable detection of partially and highly transparent objects, sensors need to show what they are really capable of. Systems don't demonstrate their true performance until put to daily use. With our solutions, we can extend the cleaning cycles of sensors used in the detection of transparent media, e.g., from one week to up to a year.

Our technical team is available to answer any of your questions and also visit your site and recommend improvements. Just call on (+356) 27 654 098.

Human-Machine Interface

HMI (Human Machine Interface) is a medium for information exchange and mutual communication between electro-mechanical systems and the user.

It allows the user to complete settings through touchable images or keys on the user-friendly window. This not only offers fast and convenient control of manufacturing automation, but also has replaced traditional controlling panels which need extensive wiring.

Delta DOP series Human Machine Interface provides various touch screens with multiple dimensions and colours and it also offers fast and convenient control functions for industrial automation machines. Moreover, programming the whole DOP series is done using the Delta Windows-based and user-friendly Screen Editor software. By using this free software, the user can quickly edit images and graphs and set suitable communication protocol through Macro command.

An HMI can be connected via a Programmable Logic Control, Variable Frequency Drive and on a network. Delta HMI’s are so versatile that they can be programmed to connect with other brands of PLC’s.
